When inquiring about applying for explosion-proof certification, many clients ask whether it is necessary to have a production factory to apply for it, and whether it can be processed through original equipment manufacturing (OEM) or original design manufacturing (ODM) models.
In China, if you only apply for an Explosion-proof Certificate, there is no need to conduct a factory inspection. You only need to provide the required drawings, documents and samples that meet the specifications.
For products within the scope of the Compulsory Explosion-proof 3C Certification, you need to apply for the Explosion-proof 3C Certificate. This adopts the mode of "product testing + factory inspection", requiring the applicant to have production capacity or the ability to conduct OEM/ODM business.
International explosion-proof certifications are more stringent than domestic ones. For example, when applying for an IECEx certificate, factory inspections are required for all products regardless of their explosion-proof types and grades; for ATEX certification, factory inspections are required for Zone 0 and Zone 1 environments, and production conditions must be met, except for Zone 2 environments.
