Gas detectors are relatively common explosion-proof products, with common types including Intrinsically Safe Type (i), Flameproof Type (d), Flameproof Combined with Intrinsically Safe Type (d+i), etc. The choice of explosion-proof type depends on the product's structure, electrical parameters, installation method and application site.
For portable and handheld gas detectors, it is recommended to apply for the Intrinsically Safe Type (i) Ex Certificate, as they are more lightweight. In addition, if the gas detector is used in Zone 0, it can only adopt the intrinsic safety ia explosion-proof grade. For the Intrinsically Safe Type (i), it is necessary to consider the intrinsic safety design of the circuit, housing material, battery temperature rise test and other factors.
Fixed gas detectors can be considered to be made into Flameproof Type (d). Flameproof products are relatively bulky, and their explosion-proof function is mainly achieved through the flameproof enclosure. Even if sparks are generated by internal components, the flameproof enclosure can block the spread of explosions; on the other hand, the enclosure can also prevent external explosion sparks from entering the interior of the equipment.
Of course, for some gas detectors, the explosion-proof performance cannot be achieved by a single intrinsic safety (i) or flameproof type (d). In this case, it is necessary to consider composite explosion-proof types such as Flameproof Combined with Intrinsically Safe Type (d+i).
STS has obtained domestic and international Ex Certificates for instruments and meters such as gas detectors, alarms and transmitters for customers. With rich experience and cases in obtaining certificates, we welcome you to send us a private message for communication!
